Review
This book has all sorts of accolades about how stellar of a science fiction novel it is, awards it was considered for, even a comparison to le guin. I could barely read this, all the narrators were so arrogant in their world view and with next to no ability to comprehend that different cultures may have different rules. And what the fuck was up with the rape scene, where the guy somehow doesn't think she has a problem with his advances when he has to restrain her by the throat and thinks that her face turning red is 'normal'because he's seen her blush so much. I'm not even getting into the religious or political theory parts of this book. I really regret picking this for my book club.
