Test Drive - Marie Harte

Look, rape is a huge issue.  I get it.

CAN WE STOP USING THE THREAT OF IT ALONG WITH THE MOST BLATANTLY REPUGNANT CHARACTER AS THE RAPIST AS A MAJOR PLOT POINT?

It's old, it devalues the serious trauma people go through, and it further perpetuates the idea that rapists are all clearly villains.  You know what?  They aren't.  Sometimes they're people the victim trusts, sometimes it even starts out of something consensual  until choice and escape are completely stripped from the victim no matter how scared they are, sometimes it's a stranger, and yes, sometimes it is someone who is clearly a predator.

God fucking dammit I'm tired of coming across this in books.  Honestly, I almost made this rant with the Mercedes Lackey book I'm reading.
