It could be just me or random chance, but it seems like British authors are doing a lot better job with at least ethnic diversity in their novels (and also how they present it) than we're seeing in the US.  


If I pick up an UF novel in the US... most of the time it's no surprise to have a white protagonist.  Picking up UF set in England... and not only does there seem to be an equally chance of the protagonist to be not white (or not white-passing), but there's actually more than that single character who's not white.  I also appreciate that the characters are generally more than their ethnicity.
