Outlander - Diana Gabaldon
I liked the story, the characters, the setting, the language of it. However it was too long due to far too much that was unnecessary to the story (though reading author interviews she wrote it expecting whole sections to be removed by the editors). I don't have a problem with long books, but a well written book holds it own regardless of length, this book had the potential to be an utterly phenomenal shorter book, but not so strong at 800+ pages. The time line is incredibly inconsistent to the point of making me want to throw the book across the room (if she got married after one mont-6 weeks, and she's been married for a month, and she arrived in May, it is not October!).
