Lord of the Fading Lands - C.L. Wilson

I started off being a bit "I don't know about this," particularly in regards to her paricularly odious mortal suitor and the essential acceptance of molestation as grounds for immediate betrothal.  It however improved as the story progressed, particularly with concern about manipulation/lack of consent being treated as a bad thing.  We definitely  have an alpha male type romantic lead, however one that does acknowledge his tendencies to be unreasonable and works on it (and takes it as reasonable that his soulmate stands up to him).

It is quite obvious that this is part of a series, and unlike many romance themed series, not one that each book ends with perfect love at the end of the first book.  They are finding their own accord but they are also still solidly in the midst of strife.
